Caring for your new furniture
Our furniture is made with great care for all the details, both aesthetically and functionally. This care goes into everything from the way the legs are designed on any given piece to the product that we use to finish and protect the wood from fading and minor spills. However, even once a piece has been finished and delivered it requires ongoing care.
The good news is this care is very easy.
Care for our tables:
For tables, we typically use a hardwax oil finish from Osmo, a company based out of Europe. Their products allow the natural beauty and colour of the wood to show through. They also make sure the colour is protected. This product protects your table from all spills including wine, coffee, and cola.
To clean up after these types of spills we suggest using a damp cloth quickly after a spill to clean and dry the table off. For regular cleaning, we also suggest a damp cloth. It is hugely important that you do not use any chemical based cleaner on your table. That means no Lysol, no fantastic and no cleaners that include bleach. All these cleaners will destroy the Osmo finish on your table.
Other Furniture:
For other furniture we sometimes use a water based finish, with these we suggest dusting every once in a while and giving it a wipe with a damp cloth.
Overall care tips:
To cleaning a piece use a wet rag.
For all our furniture we suggest simply wiping it down with a damp rag. You can also use furniture polish (like Pledge) from time to time, however, this is not essential to the well being of your furniture.
Even with all our attention to detail in choosing the right products to finish your piece, please remember you are getting handcrafted, natural wood furniture and it should be treated with great care.
